The Regional Education & Training Service

Direct responsibility for the provision of activists’ and membership education and training lies with the Regional Education Officer, Fred Cattle (tel: 0121 685 4200, e-mail f.cattle@unison.co.uk). Activist education is provided by way of the regional education programme (distributed to all activists in late autumn), and commissioned courses. Many of the courses in the programme are held at the Regional Centre, including a full range of IT and computing courses especially designed for UNISON. Commissioned courses, for example Stewards, Health & Safety Reps, Representing Members, Winning the Organised Workplace, can be arranged at a time and place to suit the requirements of branches.

Membership education is provided by UNISON Open College in association with the Workers Education Association, and through the growing number of Learning Partnerships jointly agreed with employers.

The work of the Education Service is supported by
